I agree with you about it all, except that I did not like the girl who played Sandy at all. Talk about overacting! And I totally agree that the role ofJulie was miscast, but I’ve begun to fear saying truths like that because I know what labels will be directed at me, even though they would be totally incorrect. And yes, it was a zillion times better on Broadway, but for people who haven’t seen that one, this touring company is good enough because the show itself is worth seeing.

I thought the show was cute- but I expected more. Although the gal playing Julie had a great voice, I think she was miscast for the role. These days, everyone is so concerned with diversity casting- but here I think the show suffered from it. There was absolutely no chemistry between Julie and Michael or Julie and Dorothy. I didn’t believe for a minute he “loved” her. And the same for the director lusting after her. Didn’t buy it at all, nor Max lusting after Dorothy. The gal playing Sandy was fantastic. Loved her – but again, didn’t believe her jumping in the sack with the roommate. None of the “chemistry” was there for any of the characters. I liked the music and songs, voices and dancing- but went away disappointed. Agree with you about the ending. Super flat. I’m thinking the Broadway version must have been better.
