I appreciate the request for clarification of that point in my review.

As I state in the review, after praising the young actor, “If I didn’t know the story already, I would assume that a subplot of the scenario would be that he’s adopted, and in the 1940s, that would be a whole interesting tale unto itself!” That’s because the actor playing the young son is Asian while the rest of the family is Caucasian, which would indicate the child is adopted, no matter WHAT decade it takes place in. This is the same as a white actor playing a family member in A Raisin in the Sun, or Allegiance, would be distracting and confusing, no matter how good he or she is. In this show, I was also not pleased that Farkas, the big boy bully, was played by a girl in some performances! I feel that all shows sould be produced as written, even if that means the casting is NOT diverse, in any direction.

Wait–I just realized that YOU’RE the actor in question! Correct? I hope you also noticed that I lauded you, writing, “Kevin Ying really sells it without overplaying it.” Good job, kiddo! Keep up the good work! Hope to see you in something else very soon. You’re funny!
