Being oh, so much younger than y’all, I never paid any attention to Bakelite, so this is all new to me. But this is an excellent story, and be sure I’ll be looking for Bakelite now. I will say that now that I’ve seen this film because of your excellent review, I can liken it to a series on Nat Geo or History or some such that has a lot of great dox about how so many things got their start – like pizza (believe it or not, it was started in the Midwest except for those of us from Brooklyn), Kellogg’s, Hershey, airplanes, automobiles, etc.

Thanks for writing about this film. I didn’t know about Bakelite inventor Leo Baekeland but looking back, I definitely had some Bakelite bracelets back in the 70’s and 80’s. So cool to read about how plastics became so popular. I look forward to watching the film!

What a shame! I left a comment when this was first published, and I don’t remember it word for word. But I said that I was excited to see this moive because I’ve owned several Bakelite bracelts over the years. Thanks for making me aware of the film about it.
