Old post but I was thinking about her today. Kate Upton was such an unusual surprise. Not necessarily a good surprise either but a surprise none the less in a perfection obsessed industry. The woman had visual flaws that both men and women could see a mile a way yet she was suddenly a phenomenon in the bikini modelling industry.

First of all, Kate Upton was not ugly. She may have had yellow teeth and some upper lip hair but as far as her face goes she was an unequivocal pretty girl. Maybe not supermodel gorgeous or exotic but pretty in a commercial way.

But her body was an issue for me. It was quite shocking to see a woman with sagging breasts, a tummy and a flat sagging behind with cellulite become a popular bikini model. She wasn’t fat but she had the type of body the industry never seemed to want to be shown in a magazine before. It’s quite shocking that they didn’t make her lose weight, get Lupo and a breast lift and do squats for her sagging flat butt. That’s a a pretty standard requirement for women in the industry. But Kate seemed to defy those rules. While I didn’t find her body type appealing I think it was a step in the right direction to show a woman in a magazine with flaws. Kate was technically the average American woman.

She is very pretty, no doubt. However, her boobs NEED a bra because they would sag too much. And her fatal beauty flaw is that she has NO HIPS! Straight up and down Filipino teenage boy hips! From the bra up hot, from under the bra down, FAIL!
I know that gay men and industry women will promote her, but she does not have what REALLY makes a woman attractive…curvy hips!

I agree with Calvin. The female commenters are right that Kate isn’t perfect, she’s just a pretty girl with big boobs. That said, she clearly has a major marketing team behind her and lots of high profile connections. THATS WHY she’s successful.

Also, we live in the social . media age where people want someone accessible rather than 80s super model goddesses.

So yes, your observations are true but that’s only a smart part of it.

Bitching about how someone isn’t that pretty makes you look petty and insecure.
