Seeing this article was sad and interesting at the same time. I assisted Sharon the original owner with Back on Broadway, Sharon named the new venue and I thought what a great name. But tonight, I was really looking to see if we could go there for breakfast or lunch with a group. Assisting Sharon was just a favor with a little shoe string budget she got the place off of the ground with used furniture and fixtures. I never really got paid, Sharon began her first business across from the Santa Monica Pier in a little veggie stand with health food drinks. Sharon and I decorated and fixed the original chairs; cooked in the original little kitchen she had with used stoves, etc. We’d do quiches and pies, all by hand beating and separating dozen of eggs and had audiences of people looking at us in our running clothes, cooking at night, so many times and so long ago. Sharon moved on to become a nurse and bookkeeper for other restaurants on Montana Blvd., such great memories Sharon and all her work. So it’s sad to hear that they decided to close the location. :0)

That place meant so much to so many.

I had my wedding rehearsal dinner at BoB in August, 1988! It was the perfect place for a private party, and it has had a special place in my heart ever since. How many great ideas have been cooked up over breakfast or lunch at BoB? it has always been my go-to place to take people who have just moved to Santa Monica.

Thank goodness we will still be able to get Fred’s Salad at Back on the Beach. All is not lost.
