I disagree about Robert DeNiro’s speech. He should not have made that his political platform. Ricky Gervais was spot on in what he said when he was the host of the Golden Globes.

He said (paraphrasing) ” If you win an award, don’t make it into a platform to make a political speech. You are in no position to lecture the public. You know nothing about the real world. Accept your award, say your thank you’s and leave the stage”.

He’s right…celebrities have no concept of the real world. They are living in their castles surrounded by walls and moats far, far away from the world we live in. No one wants to hear their political opinion. This is the real reason award shows ratings have hit rock bottom.

No one wants to see spoiled, over paid “celebrities” give each other awards. Then they get up on stage and proceed to tell us how the world works, how politics work, who we should vote for?
Celebrities are ruining it for themselves. The “public” is becoming so sick and tired of them. They call Hollywood…Hollyweird. The golden days of Hollywood were over a very, very long time ago.

I also found the show boring. Pedro Pascal is not the only presenter I didn’t know. With a room full of major names, why do they have presenters that are not more well known. I used to watch the good wife all the time, and don’t remember ever seeing him. Perhaps the bigger name performers refuse to be presenters ?
Gwendolyn Christie’s dress was atrocious, she must have needed an entire row to sit down.

The more everyone talks about the lack of diversity, the more obvious it seems to get every year. So terribly disappointing.

Thanks so much for clearing-up the mystery of Pedro for me! The only ones of those shows I’ve ever watched are The Mentalist and The Good Wife, and I don’tt remember him from either. Oysh.

Great recap! What a fun read! FYI Pedro Pascal is The Mandalorian, which is the most watched streaming TV show! (Plus, he has had recurring roles on The Good Wife, Game of Thrones, Graceland and The Mentalist and was one of the stars of Narcos. He’s been around since the 90s)
