THANK YOUS AND INFO

Please check back tomorrow to read my tribute to my precious boy, Clarence, the Singing Dog. I don’t know how coherent it will be, but I’ve been trying to put something together, through my tears.

I want that column to be just about Clarence himself, so I’m thanking everybody today. I can’t properly portray how much everyone’s support has meant to us. From the many inquiries as to his health from the people who knew he was ailing, to the personal emails and phone calls and cards, to the offers of food and other assistance, to the many comments that were very unexpectedly posted on this site. We’ve taken it all in and, though I never understand the exact dynamics of situations like this, all of the above definitely help. At this moment, I can’t envision ever being happy again, but I’m grateful for every small diversion.

I’ve learned that being in a house all day with just my little family of three, taking care of one of us, made me forget about the outside world and everything else. So, shamefully, it had slipped my mind that because of my shows and other get-togethers, so many of you knew Clarence more than you normally would other people’s dogs. That goes for personal pals and our television audience, as well. So recollections of Clarence’s singing, park-going, the stolen-but-we-got-him-back-on-the-news episode, and many others, are bringing back great memories for us. And Mr. X and I are truly grateful for all of it. So, we’re thanking everyone for being there for us in this worst time of our lives.

And a special shout-out to my good friend, and virtual little sister, Lyndsey Green of Pat Walker Travel, for constantly changing and updating my New York reservations that were made before my precious boy go sick. I definitely had neither the energy nor mental capacity to take care of all that myself, and Lyndsey stepped-in with not a moment’s hesitation.

Now, back to business, which I really won’t be for a while. I’ll be in New York for a week, then back here for the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo, (so I hope to have lots of foodie news for you after it,) and plan to resume my daily columns on August 17th. If you were waiting to read a particular column that I mentioned would be coming up, such as Summer Beauty Ideas, they will all be posted in due time, so please keep checking.

Most important to me, though, is for everyone to read tomorrow’s tribute to Clarence. It will be up for awhile, so please try to get to it in the next couple of weeks. And thanks again for hanging in there with me.
