MY ANNIVERSARY WITH LOS ANGELES, FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME!

Even after all these years, my anniversary with Los Angeles is still special to me. I love this town!

When people complain about it, I suggest they leave. And make more room for the rest of us, who are happy to be here.

The very first places I experienced when I arrived in town as a teen-ager were Pacific Coast Highway, (the image of which, with its beautiful flowers along the median, made me relax right away,) and then right to Westwood Village, an area I’ve never moved far away from.

I actually spent a day in Westwood recently, with an old friend from here who’s since moved away. He was lamenting that it’s not the hub of activity it used to be when we were kids. But I still see it through those teen-age eyes, and Westwood can do no wrong for me.

That’s all the time I have for singing L.A.’s praises today. I have to go celebrate my anniversary with my fabulous city now!

And to continue the festivities, I think I’ll take tomorrow off, to make this a three-day holiday (for me) week-end. I’ll meet you all back here on Monday.

And, in case you get bored before then, and want to catch-up on all things “Karen’s Anniversary with LA,” here’s the link to the column that gives you all the other links to everything you could possibly want to know about my love affair with this city, and the one ritual I do every year to celebrate it, which I’m, of course, planning on doing today: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/special-day-my-1000th-anniversary-with-los-angeles.

Happy Anniversary to Los Angeles and Moi once again!!! Keep up the good work, you crazy kids you!
