FABFITFUN’S WINTER WONDERLAND

My fellow e-ziners, FabFitFun, threw their annual winter party this past week-end, and it was quite the fabulous fete. They hadn’t hosted a party on this coast for the whole year, so they went extra all-out to entertain us.

And, as always, there were tons of surprises, with no stone left unturned! It was yet another unique soiree, and I love that, no matter how special the one before, they come up with something to top it each time.

The theme of this year’s holiday bash was Winter Wonderland, and the décor and little touches supported it beautifully, up to the glittering chandeliers and down to the lush white carpets that were installed on the patio and adjacent rooms of the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills just for the occasion.

And instead of giving the guests all the same chockfull gift bags at the end of the night, (which are always uber-generous and appreciated, by the way,) this soiree had a clever twist. Since FabFitFun is known for their seasonal subscription boxes, we each got to put together our own!!! How wonderful was that?!

This is how it worked: We were each given a check-list, with many product choices on it, in seven categories. We could spend as much time as we liked perusing the products which were on display in that area. And there were knowledgable staff members at each station to answer any questions we had to help us decide. And then we could each choose our own favorite octet of products!

I brought my new bestie, Shelley, who was already a fan of their gift boxes, but was not familiar with FabFitFun otherwise, and she was uber-impressed with the whole shebang. She told me, “This event totally exceeded my expectations.” And about the build-your-own boxes, she added, “I love how diverse the gifts were. There was everything from skincare to journals to jewelry. It’s instant gratification at its best; no waiting for your goodies to arrive in the mail. And I loved bonding with total strangers over the products. We were all experiencing ‘Christmas morning’ together–what fun!” I one hundred percent agree with everything she said, including her perfect assessment of the team of people who helped us; she deemed them “helpful, enthusiastic, and seeming to take pleasure in gifting us these cool products.” Yes, indeed!

Making our boxes may have been the main event that night, (more on the contents in a minute,) but it was far from the only activity at this party. In addition to the delicious passed hors d’oeuvres, incredible dessert buffet, (of, thankfully, all bite-sized treats, which were easy to eat in a happening atmosphere such as this one,) and open bar, (have I mentioned the generosity of the FabFitFun peeps?!,) there was a wonderful DJ, stations where you could have your hair styled (including with glitter on top!,) a photo booth, and three other fabulous gifting sponsors. My favorite of those was make-up (of course,) while Shelley was absolutely thrilled to get her cell phone “made-over” with a “gorgeous cream-colored leather case that has a place for your credit card and ID.”

And all the while we got to see a pair of glittered-up ballerinas float around, along with a woman in a wintry get-up worthy of Lady Gaga!

A major highlight of the evening was a concert by Warren G. It’s strange that I had never seen him in person before because I used to hang a bit with his old duet-mate, Nate Dogg, in my clubbing days, and I loved the music they made together. Everyone seemed to enjoy his performance as much as I did!

When we were ready to finally leave, (which none of us really wanted to do!,) we just picked-up our goodie boxes which were all bagged-up and waiting for us. What organization!!! I loved it!

So I guess you’ve been wondering just what we chose for ours? Shelley’s two faves were Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate, which she said, “takes only two minutes to heat-up, and it cleans your pores out in no time,” and Kopari’s Coconut Crush Scrub for exfoliating the body.

I have to admit that I really could not decide just what I wanted, so I just sort-of checked-off items willy-nilly. So, I’m lucky that I was happy when I went through my box!!! But, as a make-up junkie, I was thrilled to play with my new Tarte Clay Face Palette. And I can’t wait to see what the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream does—earlier that night, we had been hanging-out with a Brazilian guy, and I mentioned his countrywomen’s butts, so maybe I’ll wind-up with one like that! (From my mouth to God’s ears, right?)

By the way—you, too, can check-out many of these items for yourself, in FabFitFun’s new Winter Box. Just go to their website and order your own; it’s an excellent deal. I can’t wait to hear what your faves are!
