HOLIDAY: MERRY CHRISTMAS 2017

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2017

I promise to bring the room back up in a second, but I can’t let Christmas go by without acknowledging that December 25th was the day my precious little mother went to heaven. I can’t believe that was six years ago already! And, very sadly, the pain is still ever-present.

Now, as promised, to bring the room back up, Mr. X and I are trying to make the most of the holiday season this year. We’ve seen many holiday-themed live productions in LA, and I recommend absolutely all of them to you, too.

15672912_10154891983218872_457242015716785236_nYou should check-out all my recent reviews, so you know just what each one is, but here’s the short list, in the order that they’re closing, (so you know how much time you have to see them.) And you can just use this e-zine’s “Search” boxes to find the full reviews, if you’re so inclined: Miracle On 34th Street at the Pasadena Playhouse, Beauty and the Beast—A Christmas Rose at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, A Christmas Story at the Sierra Madre Playhouse, (which, trust me, is a thousand times better than that awful recent TV musical of it!,) Aladdin and His Winter Wish at the Laguna Playhouse, and Chill at the Queen Mary (which is not a stage show but a limited-time amusement park.)

15672966_1452957431421675_2880711355139850032_nMr. X has even been very cooperative! He came with me to the first three shows above, which is a Christmas miracle! And he enjoyed them all. We also did other Christmas-y things, stopping short of really celebrating it in our house, because my soul is still not there yet, even though I’m sure my mother would love for us to do so—she was the most into the pageantry of the season of every Jewish person I know. Her adorable house displays, (with every item being a gift from me, of course, so I really know her decorations,) even outdid ours!

10888620_10152963387328872_753449569308690426_nSo, to reciprocate the holiday cooperation back to Mr. X, I went along with his wishes to watch every crappy and sappy Christmas movie on regular TV this year. We had never done that before, and the majority of them were awful, but you know what? We had a really good time doing it! It was a very different activity for us, and distracted us from the fact that we weren’t decorating or spending time buying totally unnecessary gifts.

Speaking of gifts, there is one I would appreciate from all of you! All I want for Christmas is for you guys to follow me on all my social platforms, (if you don’t already.) That would be a true Christmas miracle! One I thank you all for indulging me in. Here’s all that info:

[Note: I’m taking off until next Wednesday, December 27, because hey—Tuesday is Boxing Day—in Canada! So, I deserve that extra day off, eh?]
