HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY 2016 WEEK-END!

First, let me wish you all Happy July, in general.

Then, let’s discuss this holiday week-end. It’s special when July 4th falls on a Monday, isn’t it? If you take Friday off from work, too, (which—why not?!,) you’ll have a full four days in the middle of summer. What fun!

I semi-hate, and semi-enjoy, just sitting around relaxing. I definitely always need a day of vegging-out, but I usually worry the whole time that I’m missing some fun, even though I know that none of my pals are doing anything, either.

This year, there’s really not much I can do, anyway, because—I hope you guessed it—Wimbledon is still going on. And we’re right in the thick of that tournament! Usually, by the time July 4th comes around, the tourney is winding-down, so, with not many matches left, I‘m okay with DVRing the few that are airing, and watching them later.

But, this year, all three days of the holiday week-end will be juicy over in Jolly Old England. And, you know, (especially if you read this column on Monday: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/tennis-wimbledon-2016-begins-today,) that I don’t like to miss even a second of the goings-on across the pond, as they say.

If you’re less sports-obsessed than I, (and I hope for your sake that you are,) I hope you have a week-end full of celebrations, including barbecues, festivals, pool parties, family gatherings, and whatever other fun activities you can think of.

For me, I’m just sitting here praying for that it stops raining in Wimbledon so that this tourney can get finished on time! (Yeah, on time, so that I can move on to the baseball All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, and then the Espys the night after those special events! What a sporting month!) And that it ends with Roger Federer winning again, of course.

No matter how you spend your trio of off-days, I wish you all a wonderful, and most importantly, safe, three-day week-end, and actual holiday on Monday. I’ll meet you back here on Tuesday, although I’m sure we’ll all be exhausted. But I have a feeling I’ll have tons of Wimby updates for you, so you don’t have to spend your vacay watching the proceedings for yourselves!
