GIFTING SUITES: SECRET ROOM MTV MOVIE AWARDS SUITE

MTV MOVIE AWARDS SUITES–PART I (SECRET ROOM)

After having to sit out all but one Oscars gifting suite, I’m thrilled to be back in action for last week’s events that celebrated the MTV Movie Awards. (I had strength for just three of them, and I’m happy to say that I chose really wisely!)

Unlike many other journalists who attend these suites, I don’t feel like just giving you a list of some sponsors is enough–as regular readers know, I tell you something about each gift so you’ll know which ones you’re interested in looking-up for yourself, and their websites. So, for only the second time, I’m celebrating these suites over two days because there were so many wonderful sponsors to tell you about, that just a single column couldn’t cover them all.

Today, I’m telling you about the Secret Room, and finishing up tomorrow with GBK and Buddha Bark. So, please check them both out. I think you’ll be glad you did.

SECRET ROOM RED CARPET STYLE LOUNGE

Returning to the SLS Hotel this time, the Secret Room is actually no secret anymore, as it has become one of the premiere suites. I’m always thrilled to be included.

A perennial top suite, they outdid themselves this time! I don’t know how they keep coming up with wonderful new gifts!!!

As I entered through the giant outer room, I saw spa tables all set-up, that were just calling out to me! They were so inviting that I did the services before the gifting room, and they were just what the doctor ordered. (Deets below.)

[Note: I have to put a disclaimer on my looks, in case you saw me post-facial. As we know, we glamour girls never step out in public right after a facial because we’re shiny with matted-down hair. So, of course, I should have saved that part for my way out, but you know I’m usually leading the pack, so I had to be the services pioneer at the suite. And I’m thrilled that I did! Just don’t judge my looks if you saw me there. (Of course, the photogs took more pix of me than when I was doing my show, so I’m living in fear that they’ll surface someplace. Other than right here, that is–but the one below is with kids I’m happy to be in a picture with, no matter what I look like!)]

My Mesoestetic stem cell remedy facial was divine! The aestheticians, Coline and Lynette, were fabulous and informative, and looked great themselves, which is always a good indication of the product. If I came out with the same great skin that they were rocking, I’m doing okay. And I got to show-off my new complexion to Olympic figure skater Sasha Cohen, whom I’ve interviewed several times, and has gorgeous skin herself. She proved her muscle power by carrying around all her gift bags without breaking a sweat! www.mesoesteticusa.com

The El Leon Spa ladies, Arisara and Zine, were there to give us relaxing chair massages again, which helped with toting all those heavy gifts! www.elleonspa.com

Karen with "Modern Family"'s Rico Rodriguez and his big sister, Raini.

One celeb sighting that I was thrilled about: before I even looked at one gift, I spied my new best friends, (which is news to them!,) Rico Rodriguez (Manny on Modern Family) and his lovely big sis, Raini. I had just bumped into them two nights before at the A Chorus Line opening at the Pantages, so it fun to see them again, right off the bat.

Here are some of my favorite gifts:

Yoostar–this is an entertainment system that allows users to star in movie scenes with the original actors. It features a camera, microphone, green screen, and software that digitally remove the actors, and puts you in their place. If they have Brothers In Arms in their film collection, you can even do a scene with me! (But don’t hold your breath on that one.) www.yoostar.com

Spa Water–I saw this beautifully-colored display the second I walked in, and got thirsty just looking at it. Who knew that there were so many recipes for spa water?  (And the owner has the most mouth-watering business card ever!) www.myspawater.com

Konad Stamping Nail Art–this just may be my favorite gift from this suite! It’s a kit of products to stamp colorful images on your nails. They girl who demonstrated it at the suite had much more talent at it than I, but this is the first gift of the week that I sat down and played with. If you see my nails around July 4th, look for my handiwork. (And hopefully by the Fall, I’ll be ready to step-up to the bigger kit, for which my mouth is watering!) www.konad.com

Pure Energy Chargers–these wire-free charge pads for iPhones are wonderful! For those of us who are old school in our cell phone taste, they have cute adapters to use with the charger pad, as well. It’s always nice to be included, even without being so technologically hip. www.shoppureenergy.comwww.shoppureenergy.com

Kymaro Heath and Beauty–the second I saw this fun pink shopping bag full of goodies, my mouth watered. And it was correct to! Inside were products to enhance eyelashes, tans, and boobs! What more could a bon vivette want? www.bjgd.com

Ana M–this whole display took me back to my circus days! If only I had had the Ana M bikini then, I would have gladly given up the red velvet one that was my costume as The Divided Lady. (I still have it, btw.) Even the company’s shopping bags were colorful and creative, and I can’t wait to wear my crazy tee. www.anamdesign.com

Nubar Nails–besides having such fun-hued nail polishes, I really liked the bottles. www.bynubar.com

Youngevity Cosmetics–this bronzer and eyeshadow look really shimmery, but even better was the upscale crease brush, that I was just wishing I had the week before! www.youngevity.com

Happy Hour Effect–these are dietary supplements created by a cute Katy Perry doppelganger. So, how could they not be good? www.happyhoureffect.com

The Body Shop–long established as a place to get fun skin care products, The Body Shop was gifting some of their newer items, like a dry-effect deodorant. www.thebodyshop-usa.com

Spring Aromacology–these lotions and creams that are made in Israel have lovely fragrances. My favorite is Secret Garden because of the scent and the name. www.myspringusa.com

Vitale Skin Care–a welcome new choice for acne sufferers. www.vitaleskincare.com

Please don’t forget to check-out tomorrow’s column because the gifts at the GBK are always among the best!
