WOW! CREATIONS LIFESTYLE OSCARS GIFTING SUITE 2013

[Note: I went to ten, count them, ten, Oscars Weeks events! Only one was a waste of time, but the other nonet were great, and each was unique. As physically-challenging to me as it all was, it was worth it to have so many wonderful stories to share with you. So, each Oscars Suite and party gets its own column, in the order of my visits to them, (with many of the celebrities being discussed in the next Celeb Sightings one,) because I want you to be able to concentrate on each and every aspect I’m telling you about. I don’t want you to miss even one second of the fun, so please make sure to check all nine days worth of stories to learn about the entirety of the fabulous-ness! This is the first of nine.]

[Note #2: Lila West is the Contributing Writer on this one.]

Harris twins caricature.

In the crowded week of pre-Oscars events here in Los Angeles, Wow Creations started us off right! Held once again in the Penthouse of the Luxe Hotel in Beverly Hills, the twin Harris brothers treated us VIPs to a really fun time. I seriously think this was their best event ever!!!

The gifting began right as we stepped-off the private elevator. As the brothers greeted each of us personally, they offered up socks, chocolates, and other assorted goodies to get started with.

Willie Gault with Lila, who's really a million times prettier than this picture!

You know I rarely care about any of the celebs who frequent these suites, but every now and then, one excites me. That was the case when I saw former Los Angeles Raider and Chicago Bear Willie Gault arrive! I actually watched him win the show Superstars way back in the day—twice! (He won twice—I watched way more than that!) He was kind enough to chat with Lila and me for awhile, and he was as nice as he is talented.

So, let’s get to the highlights of the gifts already!:

Hollywood Eye Magic—This it the product that I was happiest to see! I’ve been using this truly magical product for awhile now, and I can’t tell you what a life-saver it has been during my year of rare sleep. As many of you may have read in my Beauty section, (here it is, if you missed it: www.itsnotaboutme.tv/news/2012/08/09/listbeauty-seven-beauty-products-that-actually-work) I tout it wherever I go. So, trust me when I tell you that this easy-to-use serum instantly erases eye bags and dark circles. If my insomnia continues, I may need a life-time supply! www.hollywoodeyemagic.com

Energetix Wellness Jewelry—Their tag-line is “discover the power of magnets inside beautiful jewelry.” We have to agree with that. The gorgeous creations drew us right over to the table, but we both perked-up even more when we found-out that magnets were involved! Lila and I both have back issues, and are desperate to feel better. And being fashionistas, we, of course, have to always be styling! Beatrice gave me a small bauble that attaches to your clothing, so I can wear it near my back injury, for which I’m very grateful. Lila was impressed that her magnetic bracelet is “very stylish and healing all in one.” She said she’s going to share it with her husband, who suffers from tennis elbow, because “another great thing about most of their items is that they’re unisex!” Good point, L! www.beac.energetix-wellness.com

Dressed ‘N-Case—Being already the proud owner of one of these purses-that-turn-into-a-dress, I wanted to give you Lila’s first impressions of them this time. She deemed the concept “a very clever, versatile, and convenient idea,” and loved that they come in “cute patterns.” That’s funny because, since she considers herself “boring,” she chose basic black! But super-exciting me chose one with silver designs. What a team we make, eh? At least we won’t show-up anywhere wearing exactly the same thing! www.dressedncase.com

Tata Harper—These skin care products, that look so luxurious to me, are completely chemical-free, which is such a bonus nowadays. I’ll try them out as soon as I can take my hands off their fabulous green smooth glass bottles long enough to actually use what’s inside! www.tataharper.com

Velvet Rope Bake Shop—Lila went absolutely berserk for these “cake truffles!” She said “they’re very rich, so one bite goes a long way.” We have the same taste in desserts, so of course, both of our favorites in the twelve-piece assortment box were the dark chocolate, the carrot cake, and their signature red velvet ones. Lila also said, “The look of the packaging and the cakes themselves is so unique, and is sure to catch attention at a party or event, and will definitely serve as a special gift.” Yeah, to ourselves! www.velvetropebakeshop.com

The Printed Palette—These tees are made in America, and with water-based inks, so they’re chemical-free. Lila “loved the anchor patterns and the soft cotton feel.” She’s already worn her long-sleeve one to her “fancy workout” place, and was thrilled that it not only “looked great,” but that it wasn’t “tight in the body” and had a “sexy off-the-shoulder look. “ More than that you can’t ask from a tee shirt! www.theprintedpalette.com

Therma Aid—These are heating-and-cooling packs that come in basic pad form, but as adorable stuffed animals for the kids! Lila chose an elephant for her young daughter who’s pachyderm-obsessed; she loved that it’s “so soft and cuddly,” and “great for putting on” those inevitable kid bruises! www.pac-sh.com

Pretend Tan—You know that nobody loves a fake tan more than I do, so I was thrilled to discover this new self-tanning bronzing mist. It’s easy enough to use myself, so, for once, Mr. X won’t have to help me get gorgeous. (Don’t ask.) He’ll think I’m just naturally glowing! www.pretendtan.com

The Spatty—Man, could I have used this handy-dandy tool the day before I discovered them! (I’m not telling you what for, though; a girl gets to keep some secrets!) They’re tiny spatulas that come in two sizes. (The bigger one has the adorable moniker, Spatty Daddy!) They’re perfect for eking out the last drop of a substance from all kinds of cosmetics containers, and kitchen bottles, too. They’re so small that they’re the one gift Mr. X didn’t have a fit to see entering the over-crowded house. And a percentage of their profits go to charity. Trust me on how often you’ll need this one! www.thespatty.com

Skinny Rich Bitch Tees—I can’t believe there was already a product with my name on it! (Well, except for the skinny and rich parts.) They’re just basic white, vee-neck tee shirts with black writing, but the sayings are perfect for all hip chicks. They gave me one that says “Where’s the after-party?,” which is seriously my motto! Mr. X always says that when I get a role, instead of working on it right away, I wonder where the party will be, and what I’ll wear to it. I think we now that latter answer now! www.skinnyrichbitch.net

Elsa’s Curves Shape-Wear—While watching all the women parade down the red carpet the other night, almost all with tight bodies under those skimpy dresses, Mr. X asked, “Are they all wearing corsets?” I have a feeling some of them were rocking these compression garments, but I’ll never tell. I’m going to try one out the next time I’m due at a Hollywood event, and let everybody else wonder about my tight bod! www.elsascurves.com

Turbine Fashion—These Mud Bangles are bracelets that are crafted in a poor area of India (are there any other kinds of areas there?,) by the local artisans. They’re made of clay and crystals and look like you purchased them on Rodeo Drive! www.turbine.ca

Baubles Bags and Bows—At the last Wow Suite, this company was gifting satiny jewelry cases that come in a few classy colors, and feature many compartments. This time, they had bigger ones, and while I was worrying that my eyes were deceiving me, their reps explained that this size is for cosmetics and toiletries! So, it’s like having a little family traveling with you! And Lila said she found this size just in time to help pack-up her bathroom in the house she’s moving from. www.baublesbagsandbows.com

DB Bourbon Candy—since approximately ninety-five percent of all bourbon in the U.S. is distilled in Kentucky, it makes sense that this chocolate featuring the spirit is made there, too. I don’t do alcohol, and Lila’s not big on it either, but, as “a big chocolate lover,” she “really enjoyed the combination.” She added that the candies were “smooth and creamy,” and loved that they came in “a nice box, so it’s a great gift!”  www.dbbourboncandy.com

Life Extensions—Part of this wellness company’s goal is to “increase the quality and longevity of human life.” Amen to that! They were gifting some interesting supplements that I had never heard of, but I think I’ll go along with whatever they suggest. www.lef.org

Botanicals For Hope—These skin care products were developed by a cancer survivor to help with the dry/irritated skin that can occur from various cancer treatments. I pray I never need them, but we should all be happy there are products like this for people who do. www.botanicalsforhope.com
