DORIS BERGMAN’S GRATITUDE GIFTING LOUNGE FOR THE 2019 GEORGE LOPEZ CELEBRITY GOLF CLASSIC

I truly had gratitude for being included in this very classy event once again. Gifting Lounge doyenne Doris Bergman helmed this portion of George Lopez’s Celebrity Golf Classic for the third year in a row, and, of course, she did her usual bang-up job. The celebs who played in the golf classic that day, which was held at one of Toluca Lake’s most prestigious golf clubs, were indeed lucky to receive all these fabulous gifts!

And I really appreciate that there’s a charity component to it all; the proceeds benefit the George Lopez Foundation, (duh,) whose mission is to“create positive, permanent change for underprivileged children, adults, and military families confronting challenges in education and health, as well as increasing community awareness about kidney disease and organ donation.” www.georgelopezfoundation.org

My co-writer on this one is Diane, who was as excited as I was to attend because she had become a fan of Doris’ events at one of her previous gift lounges. She said, “The entire well-organized event was a delight. The sunlit room was inviting and comfortable. And the sponsors and their representatives were happy to share their knowledge. And, of course, as usual, Doris Bergman was very welcoming of all her guests.”

When I stepped outside the gift lounge to take in the stunning vista at one point, George Lopez drove his own golf cart right by me. And Don Cheadle said a quick hi to me as he ordered a vegan hot dog at one of the food stops along the course. But basically, I had eyes for only the marvelous assortment of items on offer in the Gratitude Gifting Lounge.

I was pleased to see that some of my perennial fave sponsors were back, along with so many wonderful new ones. Doris really knows how to choose something for everyone!

True Gold Honey—As a honey aficionado, and someone who’s worried about the plight of bees in our world, I was thrilled to chat with this very amiable mother and son, who are third and fourth generation beekeepers in Lindsay, California. And I was even happier to sample their very delicious and creative honey flavors, like avocado and wild buckwheat, which they gave everyone in a big gift box of five varieties. It was not only one of the classiest gift presentations I’ve ever seen at one of these events, but also an extraordinarily generous one! Diane points-out that these honeys are “harvested by hand,” making them “as raw and pure as possible.” She adds, “A percent of the sales is donated to families who are impacted by disability.” So purchasing honey from this company is a win for everybody! www.truegoldhoney.com

Wrap Up by VP—I noticed a handsome guy rocking one of these stunning robes, and I just assumed he was one of the celebs! But he was repping this company whose robes and wraps Diane says are “velvety soft” and “so lightweight and comfy you want to keep them on all day.” I don’t know how anyone decided among their “beautiful and fashionable” designs! If I had known about these before, (especially the sparkly-skull-adorned “George Lopez Special,” and the most popular one that day—a short pink robe with butterflies all over it,) they definitely would have made it into my Mother’s Day Gift Guide! www.wrapupbyvp.com

Charise Noel Jewelry—I’ve been a fan of this jewelry designer’s innovations for several years now, so I was happy to discover her brand new “Magic” collection. The hallmark of all her work is their helpful magnetic closures, which Diane says “makes getting ready as easy as can be.” Charise began designing them years ago for her mom, who had lost the dexterity in her hands due to breast cancer. (I’m happy to report that she’s doing well now, and was even on-site that day!) This Magic line features a choice of “endings” which can be worn at least three different ways! Diane suggests that with them, you can “change the look to go with your mood or outfit.” www.charisenoel.com

Green Goddess Collective—I was overwhelmed by the extreme generosity of this sponsor. The gift bag was its own gifting suite! Although the name made me crave old-fashioned salad dressing, Green Goddess is actually a Venice, California dispensary for cannabis and CBD-based products. And it has been around much longer than most of its counterparts. I can’t believe how far the world of marijuana, medical and otherwise, has come! Each gift bag contained about a dozen different items, some topical CBD creams, (including all-important sunscreen,) edibles, a vape pen, and even just plain old (but special) pre-rolled joints! It all made me wish I could still indulge, but I’ll be happy to use the sunscreen. Knowing many of the celebs as I do, I have a feeling this gift was the popular one there that day! www.greengoddesscollective.com

Twisted Silver—I so adore that uber-creative jewelry designer Debra Mitchell always comes up with new pieces for every occasion. For this one, she made fabulous bracelets of bee jasper with lava rock on memory wire. They come in two sizes, both uni-sex. Diane saw Debra’s prolific work in person for the very first time, and says, “These designs are hip, versatile, and easy to wear. Made of found objects and recycled materials, the jewelry is lightweight, and so comfy and stylish you’ll never want to take it off!” twisted-silver.com

Buy Wine—As always, this Lounge Co-Host had the most beautiful display. Whereas at Doris’ other events, they adorn their tables with crystals and flowers, this time they cleverly decorated their area using golf clubs and blue-and-white golf balls! Better yet for most of the guests, they were gifting bottles of Buhman Estate Vineyards’ Chardonnay from Napa Valley. After meeting their “helpful and professional” personnel, Diane perused their website and told me, “Buy Wine does not quench your thirst for only fine wine, but for knowledge, as well.  They’re like a Masters course in wine and history!” www.buywine.com

Young LA—This casual clothing company was giving the guests a choice of several types of cotton tops (such as hoodies, tanks, and tees,) which Diane says are made of “the softest weave ever.”  I love textiles (who knew?,) and I can tell you that these have a luxurious feel. I tried one on, and all I could think is, “When you put it on, you automatically feel hip,” which is exactly what the cute guys who were doing the gifting from this company are! www.youngla.com

Milena’s Boutique—Diane had never seen these luxurious candles in person before, and she says, “Made with soy, shea butter, coconut and apricot, the scents are as delicious as the ingredients sound. They’re so pure, that as they melt, you can dab it on your skin as a moisturizer.” The pink-and-brown display was not only beautiful, but these candles made the entire gifting lounge smell delish! www.milenasboutique.com

Youth Glow Skin Care—This skin care company, with whose products I was already familiar, was gifting their new three-piece Beverly Hills Collection this time. The first thing that Diane noticed is that their Luxury Facial Oil contains marula oil, which is the hot new ingredient in skin care! She pointed-out that all their products contain ingredients to “repair and regenerate your skin.” And who in this town is not interested in doing that?! www.youthglowskincare.com

La Cristallerie des Parfums—I had met this company before, so I was happy to see them here again. They were letting the guests get a whiff of their perfumes in a unique way—they sprayed all the fragrances on a male sponsor at the table next to them, and he let people sniff his arms! Everyone was having a good time with it. And the bottles that house them all are beautiful.  I wouldn’t expect anything less from Parisians! www.lacristalleriedesparfums.fr

Popcornopolis—Even from across the room, the very first sight my eyes were drawn to when I entered the lounge was the very recognizable circus-looking packaging from this company! I think everyone was happy to receive an assortment of this most famous popcorn, in what Diane says are flavors “to please everyone.”  She also gushed that just “seeing their bags” makes her smile. www.popcornopolis.com

Pura D’or Haircare—This company whose organic hair products Diane says “smell so good,” was gifting a potpourri of items, including their therapy shampoo for those with thinning hair. (And isn’t that just about everyone in Hollywood, except for me, knock on wood!) Their wares are all-natural, and Diane said, “With ingredients like apple extract, oat bran, and coconut oil, I don’t know whether to eat it or use it on my hair!” www.purador.com

Telic Footwear—I’ve long been a fan of these comfy rubbery water shoes which Diane tells us are “so lightweight that they’re like walking on grass.” She adds, “Their well-researched technology provides amazing support and shock absorption. I wish they could take the stress out of life the way they do for your feet.” What she said!  www.telic.com

S & G Thesign—This company I was already a fan of was gifting a conveniently petite notepad featuring my fave thing in life–colored paper. Diane said that it “would make even grocery lists fun.” www.sgthesign.com

Hint Water Sunscreen—This company’s spray sunscreen is actually the only one I’ve used for the past few years, since they introduced it! But it was new to Diane, who deemed it “so easy to apply.” She also “loves the fruit scents,” and suggests pairing it “with a bottle of Hint Sparkling Water,” for a “perfect afternoon at the beach.” www.drinkhint.com
