FABFITFUN’S FALL LAUNCH PARTY‏

October 9th was a year since my last two hand surgeries! Wow. And what better way to celebrate that milestone than with a night of pampering and gifts?

That came courtesy of fellow beauty and lifestyle e-zine, FabFitFun. They had a Fall Launch Party for their wonderful seasonal VIP Box, which is chock-full of full-sized items. (You can order one for yourself on their website of the same name.) And, boy, did they do this fete right!

It was held at the trendy Redbury Hotel in Hollywood, in the Library. (Lucky location because I have a feeling this is as close to a library as some of the other guests have ever gotten!!! Not my co-writer, Alice Farinas, whose statements are the ones in quotes, by the way, nor me, of course, nor the fabulous FFF staff, but some. Just sayin’.)

The activities were mainly on the outdoor veranda, and Alice commented this this was the “perfect evening!” We were treated to lots of fun beauty services including manis (and pedis!,) hair styling, mini massages, facial treatments, eyebrow threading, and make-up.

Alice and I started off our evening with pedis, (mini-ones,) courtesy of Tiffany Phan and Emily Tran of the various locations of Nail Garden. The girls were great. Alice is still raving about them, and she would usually rather do her own nails. I guess not anymore!

While she continued bonding with Emily, I moved over to the Glam Squad area, for Jennie Albano to flat-iron my beachy hair. I was so happy that they were handing out colorful little hair ties because we needed them for our next service, chair massages by Sande Stratton of Soothe. I loved her honesty in agreeing that the tension in my back was off the charts. But she definitely helped that situation.

Neither of us was in need of the rest of the services, so we just chilled, and enjoyed the tasty, and clever, passed appetizers. Alice’s fave was the “yummy gourmet” pizza with olives. Even though I detest olives, these were easy to remove, (and hand over to Alice,) so it was really the perfect pizza! She also noted that the “delicious sliders were an ideal way to soak up all the fun drinks!” I was more into the foods I deemed “clever,” because they were little dishes of healthful sauces, like cucumber and yogurt, or hummus and chickpeas, with a long, thin cracker sticking up from it in the cup. (Those go along with FFF’s “wellness” theme.)

Along the way, they also served various cocktails, (I don’t drink, but Alice was very happy to sample a couple of “great 15% proof coconut cocktails,” and I noticed many others following suit!) We finished our snacking with pretty mini-cupcakes. And there was a photo booth to occupy us in-between it all!

We each left with a gift bag and a fabulous Fall FFF VIP box! Since the decorations for the soiree had included some of the company’s past boxes, we couldn’t wait to get home and dig into these new ones. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they contained not just beauty products, (even though, as girly-girls, we love receiving all the full-sized creams and potions this VIP box offers.)  In addition to a couple of healthful snacks, there were a few items designed for the classy gals amongst us, or at least to try to give us some class. We loved the “Suzy homemaker-style” polka-dot apron, (Alice said, “It feels like the minute you put it on, you can whip up a cake!”–and she can!,) and my fave, a set of thank you cards, with a wax sealer for the envelopes! (It’s a good reminder for us to class-up our lives a bit nowadays by writing good old-fashioned snail mail notes!) Alice, who knew of these boxes only from what I had written about them this past summer, was “wowed” by the contents. She said, “I was so amazed by all the different items in my FabFitFun box!  In there is what every girl needs, from hair to body to face. What a treat!”

Actually, “what a treat” applies to the whole event!  Now I can’t wait until January or so, not just because it will be my birthday then, but also so we can attend the launch party for FabFitFun’s winter box!  I can’t wait to experience the always-new surprises!
