STORM LONDON WATCH RECEPTION

You guys know how I love quick easy events where you learn something, get fed, and leave with a gift. Trust me, I don’t write about one half of what I go to, but I like to laud the events that are fun, easy, and/or good.

Just a small sampling of Storm's new watch collection.

Last week, I went to one such event–the launch of Storm London’s new watch and jewelry collections, which include many beautiful pieces. I used to have watch-mania, and wear three at a time, but then something happened to me and I became basic in my jewelry taste. As soon as I got a load of these new Storm watches, I wanted to go back to my multiple ways! I loved at least ¾ of them, which is quite a high percentage. And the other jewelry pieces were fabulous, as well.

We were also treated to a viewing of their new handbag offerings, but I had really wanted to sneak a peek at their new eyewear. (Get it–sneak a peek? Eyewear?) There was quite enough to see, though. And we each got personal “tours” through all the collections from their knowledgeable rep, Erin Williams.

The event was held at a downtown penthouse showroom, and therefore had a hip, loft feel to it, especially with a low-key DJ spinning in the corner. The whole scene was such that, if I saw it in a movie, I would think it was not a real-life experience.

On the way up, the man in charge of the lobby snack bar told us, “Oh, it’s a good party up there!” I said, “Really? It looked good?” And he answered, “There’s champagne!” I thought that was so cute.

Guess who had already eaten most of these desserts? (Actually, everyone had, not just I.)

And he was correct–there was champagne. And also lovely small-bite sweet treats, in quite the variety, created by classically-trained pastry chef Belinda Leong, from northern California. I love this very new trend of tiny desserts, so there’s no waste and you can sample them all. And in this case, walk around holding them, without making a mess. (Except for me, of course–I dropped one right away!) Included were brownie bites, mini-cups of tapioca with fruit, chocolate mousse with chocolate crumbs, fruit tarts, and my favorite–lollipops made of chocolate cake!

We each left with a surprise watch! I had noted to Erin that there was one in the new collection that looked like a DVD, and, just by chance, that was the one I received! I love it. But they were all so fabulous that I definitely would not have known which one to choose, had we been given our choice. That might have been a fun idea, to let us each pick-out the one that called to us, but with how wonderful they all are, we might still be up in the Penthouse, agonizing over just which is our favorite. I know that I would!
