CELEB SIGHTINGS: CELEB SIGHTINGS 48

CELEB SIGHTINGS 48

There was about a month lull in celebrity sightings, between the middles of June and July, (which may have been because I didn’t leave the house for the Wimbledon fortnight! The same for the NBA play-offs right before that, except for swimming every day during those.) But then it picked right up, beginning with the best event of the year!

So, this just may be my longest Celeb Sightings ever! And juiciest! And most diverse! And who doesn’t love long, juicy, and diverse? (I don’t even know what that means, but I went for it.)

Read on for the deets.

7/9/16 Fred Willard at the fabulous Concern Foundation Block Party at Paramount Studio in Hollywood. He was just sitting at a table, watching the presentation, looking serene. (If you want to read about this best event of the year, click here: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/eventpartycharity-concern-foundation-block-party-2016.)

7/12/16 Former pro basketball player John Salley at GBK’s pre-Espy Awards gifting suite in Hollywood. I used to know him a bit, back in the day, so I was happy to remind him that he’s tied with the glorious recently-retired Tim Duncan as the only two players in history to win an NBA Championship in three different decades! (Here’s my write-up of that whole suite: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/gifting-suite-gbk-gifting-suite-honoring-the-espy-awards.)

7/13/16 The still-beautiful Jaclyn Smith at the Grey Gardens opening at the Ahmanson Theatre in DTLA. And she was with celebrity hairdresser Jose Eber. Who knew they are pals?! Mr. X was actually more excited to see Jose than Jaclyn, because we just had to tell him how much we love his hair dryer! It’s the best one ever! (You can read my review of that musical here: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/theatre-grey-gardens.)

7/13/16 Also at the above-mentioned opening night, senior celebrity couple, Joe Bologna and Renee Taylor. I know that poor Joe isn’t doing too well health-wise, but I give him a lot credit—he was pushing his poor wife in a wheelchair! The big group I was with when we spotted the duo was in shock—none of us had heard anything about Renee being in that condition! But later on, I saw her exit the handicapped bathroom under her own power. So maybe whatever was ailing her that night wasn’t that serious after all.

7/30/16 The unbelievable Dick Van Dyke at the Malibu Arts Festival. I see him there every year, at his artist grandson’s booth, and this time, I was finally brave enough to speak to him. He was adorable. I knew he’d be shocked to learn what my favorite work of his is, and he did not disappoint. It’s the 1979 movie, The Runner Stumbles, about a priest and a nun. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was when I got a big laugh out of him by saying that I wanted to play the nun role on stage, but I realized that I was a little too Jewish for that!

8/15/16  So many celebrities in one place!  At the very special show One Starry Night, to benefit ALS research at the Pasadena Playhouse, they were all over the place–in the show, in the audience, and at the after-party.  I even parked, and walked in with, Jason Alexander!  These are just a few of the other ones I spied: Hal Linden, JoAnne Worley, Valerie Pettiford, and the one I went to see–none other than the iconic Hayley Mills!!! (You can read my review of the whole worthwhile event here: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/charitytheatreevent-one-starry-night-2016.)

8/22/16 Screening season has finally begun, and with it brought the stars of The Hollars, John Krasinski and Margo Martindale, in West Hollywood. I’m always happy for the success of this marvelous older actress; it gives us all hope. I had never seen John before, except in photos, (because I’ve never watched The Office,) but I was uber-impressed with him. He’s adorable, intelligent, and so much better-looking than the pix I’ve seen of him! We got into cars right next to each other on the way out, so I got to tell him, “Good job!,” to which he replied, “Thank you. I really appreciate it!’ And you know what—I think he really did!

9/11/16 More of a working actor than a celeb, but I talked to Conrad Ricamora from How To Get Away With Murder at the opening night party for The Fantasticks at the Pasadena Playhouse. He’s so much cuter in person! (Here’s my review of that show: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/theatre-the-fantasticks.)

9/15/16 At Doris Bergman’s Emmys luncheon and gifting suite, in West Hollywood, I spied the always-adorable Jason Ritter and Glee’s Jane Lynch, (although not together, of course.) (You can read about the whole event here: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/gifting-suite-doris-bergmans-2016-emmy-style-lounge-party.)

9/15/16 Ray Romano, Kevin Nealon, and the gorgeous Tim Matheson (who has to be the best-looking “mature” man ever) were all on-stage at the wonderful WeSpark gala in Bel-Air. I wish I had told Tim that Hart of Dixie was my favorite show; since everyone at this event was a grown-up, I think he would have been shocked that one of us even heard of that show (it’s on the CW,) let alone name it as her fave!!! (You can, and should, read about this worthwhile event here: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/charityevent-may-contain-nuts-wesparks-anniversary-fete.)

9/17/16 I saw Margo Martindale (for the second time in a month!,) and Veep’s Tony Hale at the GBK gifting lounge for the Emmys, at a beautiful hotel in Beverly Hills. (You can read about the whole event here: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/gifting-suite-gbk-2016-pre-emmys-lounge.)

9/19/16 I was happy to see (and hear) Tom Hiddleston at the first industry screening of his Hank Williams biopic, I Saw The Light, in West L.A. I knew nothing about him, except that he’s supposed to be a heartthrob, so I was sort-of surprised to see a skinny guy with a small head. He wasn’t even particularly amusing or charming; he was just a nice, normal, basic guy. But it turns-out that he and I have something in common—we both did fake radio shows as kids! And we both did accents, too. Only I got fired from the phone company for doing mine! Oops.

9/25/16 At an event in Beverly Hills, to raise funds for needy holocaust survivors, I hung-out for a bit with Lou Grant himself, Ed Asner, and also former Access Hollywood host, Shaun Robinson, who just the day before had been anointed My New Best Friend! (You can read about the event here: itsnotaboutme.tv/news/charityevent-a-star-shines-for-survivors.)

And that’s it! Whew. Now I’m off to New York to see what celebs I can spot there. I’ll tell you all about it next time.
