FABFITFUN’S SPRING BOX LAUNCH PARTY

Fellow e-zine FabFitFun outdid themselves on their latest rendition of their famous four-times-a-year fete.  This one, to launch their Spring Seasonal Box, was bigger than ever, and had a hip, club party feel to it. Guests seemed as into partying and mingling as they were into the many beauty services!

It was held at the shockingly still happening Skybar at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood.  The weather was perfect for the mainly outdoor event.  And the guests all looked good.  Every fashion was in sight.

Upon entering, Alice, my contributing writer on this one, (her comments are the ones in quotes,) and I really didn’t know what to do first!  They had all kinds of beauty services, food, drinks, and even gifts.

But the real reason we were all there was to check-out FabFitFun’s Spring Box, the contents of which were presented in a very innovative way.  Since the party was a poolside one, there were topless guys walking around all night carrying the open boxes.  I can’t tell you how many girls fawned over them, making believe they wanted to see the products rather than the pecs!  Yeah, right.

There was something very special at this one of the yearly quartets of soirees.  In the middle of the event, FabFitFun CEO, Daniel Broukhim, introduced Mia La Maven, a beautiful teen-age blogger, who has been battling Ewing’s Sarcoma bone cancer for four years now. And FabFitFun is trying to help. (If you’d like to find out more about their fundraising efforts, and donate yourself, please click here: www.fabfitfun.com/mia-sidaros-fundraising.) It was a really touching, enlightening moment for the polite among us who actually stopped what we were doing to pay attention. I was happy to see so many people care about this lovely young girl.

There’s no great segue after that, but let me bring the room back up by returning to the party components. Alice began (and ended!,) the evening with a couple of the special alcoholic beverages.  She started with a “yummy” specialty cocktail of Svedka Vodka, pineapple, and jalapeño.  She also “really enjoyed” the Lucky Buddha Beer in a “really cool green glass Buddha-shaped bottle.”

The passed tasty tidbits, from the hotel’s adjacent Herringbone restaurant, included grilled cheese quarters on a bed of tomato sauce, Ahi tuna cubes on crispy won ton skins, mini sliders, and chicken slices in spicy barbeque sauce.

Happily satiated, we commenced the beauty services.  Nail Garden’s Nikki and Kelly did our polish changes, and then Angel Patel from Shapes Brow Bar threaded our brows.  (Duh.)  I saw her also de-fuzzing upper lip areas on some guests, and even some faces!  While Alice had hers done, their cute make-up artist, Eddie Giron, helped me hide how tired I truly was, by lightening-up my under-eyes a bit, so I could face the rest of the evening.  We had to wait awhile for chair massages, courtesy of Soothe Massage, a mobile service that you access through their app, but Natalie (who did mine) and Melissa (who worked on Alice) really came through for us.

We picked-up pairs of Me Undies, who were there offering a choice of their soft boy shorts, bikinis, thongs, and briefs, all in cool colors and patterns.

As fun as that all was, the highlight of the evening was, as always, leaving with FabFitFun’s box of goodies! (You can purchase one for yourself here: vip.fabfitfun.com. And, as my reader, use coupon code: fashion, for $10. off! Yay!) (We VIPs also received an auxiliary goodie bag that included a trio of socklets, lip gloss with SPF that I used right away, and a bunch of beauty products and yummy snacks.)

Even though we got an on-site peek into the boxes, courtesy of the half-naked men, it’s always more fun to go through it all at home.  It extends the festivities.  Here are the highlights: Palmetto Derma Collagen Booster with Vitamin C; a beautiful boxed coaster set, of famous cities around the world, from Rifle Paper Co.; an Ofra professional make-up brush duo, one for concealer or foundation and an eyeshadow one; a beautiful, colorful, summery Jules Smith Scarf; a pair of Orly nail polishes, and a set of Intense Body Blast pilates DVDs, which should help get everyone in shape for summertime fun! Don’t forget to order your FabFitFun Spring Box soon, before we’re ready for their summer one!
