BEAUTY: STYLE BAR BH

STYLE BAR BH

I had such a perfect experience at Beverly Hills’ three-month-old Style Bar BH last week that I must share it with you. Mr. X even looked at my hair last night and asked what was different because he thought it looked extra-good.

Every salon should be this laid-back and fun. And they have the nicest personnel ever! I wish they had been open when I was still doing my show because I would have looked forward to spending the day of the taping there, getting pumped-up, in looks and confidence to do a great show. I swear, I’ve never received so many heartfelt compliments in my life! Even though I probably don’t deserve them, they meant every word.

I had met one of the owners of this place, Sharona Rahimian, (her younger sister, Ramona Rolayem, is the other) at a mobile beauty event two weeks prior, and, when she told me about their express service (blow-dry, mani/pedi, and make-up in under an hour for under $100!,) I wanted to go experience it for myself. (Each service is just $33, so you don’t have to get all three to get an excellent deal at any time.)

The second I walked into Style Bar, after a stressful morning, I immediately relaxed. It’s big yet totally comfortable, with all pretty appointments and stations, and just the right combination of black/white/mirrors and splashes of color. I was planning on doing the Express Service, but when I went into the lovely restroom to change, I noticed the private rooms, and, with no time constraints that day, I immediately changed my mind over to their Premium Services. I decided to just take it slowly and luxuriate in the beyond-lovely treatment they provide there. Between the services, multiple snack breaks, and socializing, I wound-up staying for over five hours! (That was totally my choice; they move faster than that. But this place is like a “Cheers”—no one wants to leave!)

[Note: don’t judge anything by the photos on their site; while the salon looks beautiful in them, they don’t come close to capturing the super-friendly ambience. My pix don’t do it justice either, actually. And the adorable sisters are a million times better-looking than their pix, too! A million!]

Besides how wonderful the services are, the best part is the wonderful lack of attitude from everyone there, from the owners on down. Since their mother works there, too, ever so pleasantly, I think it feels like a fun neighborhood family or something, the one whose house all the friends wind-up at. I cannot portray this enough, but usually salons, especially ones in Beverly Hills, make you feel like you’re an interloper, and they talk around, or down to, you, and act like they know sooooo much more than you do in the category of what you should look like. That’s not even close to the scene here! They want to do what you want them to, to make you happy.

I’m going to go in order of my experience, so please make sure to read it all, so you know some of what this establishment has to offer. Or, since house calls are a specialty of theirs, you can have the very same services in the comfort of your home! (Or hotel or office.) I also know that they do wedding parties—it almost makes me want to get married, just to have them work on me! (I just don’t want Mr. X to see girls this amiable—I’m happy that he doesn’t realize there are females nicer than I.)

So, first, after Sharona showed me around, Azita Beheshti refreshed my hair color. That girl has a wonderful eye for shades because, without having any knowledge of what was used on me in New York last month, she mixed-up the exact right color to do just my roots, so that my main mane didn’t have to get the extra stress of dye where it wasn’t needed. That’s the first time any stylist has ever known enough to do it that way!

My delicious take-out food. My mouth is watering just looking at that dill rice!

Just as I was thinking that if I spend the rest of the day there I’ll get very hungry, Sharona stopped in my room and asked if I’d like some food from Aram, the Persian restaurant right next door. I can’t tell you about just how delicious it was because I’m beginning to crave it again right now. But it was so good that I stopped there as soon as I was done at the salon to take some home to Mr. X. I promise, this place is review-worthy, so I’ll try to get back there soon for you guys. I can’t wait! Yum!

After Azi shampooed and applied a shine mask, (which may be why Mr. X couldn’t take his eyes off my hair,) I moved over to a mani-pedi from Keisha Goss, who should be a model. I never had such a fun, relaxing time with a nail tech. (By the way, for the Express Service, she comes to you and does them while you’re getting your hair blown.)

I upgraded to the most attractive foot bath ever, filled with aromatic petals. Because of the oils in them, I couldn’t do gel “polish” on my toes, but I did it on my fingernails. Gel has been my favorite substance for nails for almost a year now, and I was happy to discover a new brand of it, with the brilliant name “Gelish,” at Style Bar. Love it! It’s been over a week, and, knock on wood, I don’t even have a hint of a chip! I’ve had gels before, but I have to highlight the fact that Keisha did the absolute best manicure I’ve ever had! Including the cute shape and neatness of it all. And so easily. She didn’t even make fun of me for choosing the color “Gossip Girl!” Okay, I’m a goon who did choose it for its name, but it’s the perfect summer pink, and I love it.

Then, rocking my shiny new hair color and toes and nails, not to mention a full stomach, (which I wish I had right now!,) I was finally ready for my blow-dry from Angela Elizalde. We spent so much time comparing boyfriend notes that I actually forgot she was blowing my hair! When I looked in the mirror, I was amazed that my hair was all done! It looked very hip, straight with a tad of body and wave. She even trimmed my bangs, which those of you who watched my show know I’m a little nutty about, and they’re perfect.

I had forgotten that Azi had tinted my brows to match my hair, so then it was time to groom those babies, too. That’s where Bong Buan came in. He was actually supposed to do my make-up that day, but I was so tired at that point, I knew I was just going to go home and sleep that night, so he just shaped my brows. Beautifully, I might add. He told me that there’s a woman there who does them, too, but I was very happy with him, and can’t wait to go back to him for a special occasion, to see what he can do with my make-up.

As all this was happening, Ramona and her mom came around with beautiful trays of fresh fruit! They obviously never wanted me to leave because where else do you get treatment like this? And, of course, the whole time, they offered all of us customers beverages. At that point, if they had had some beds there, I would have stayed the night!

I told you this was the best salon experience ever, didn’t I? It wasn’t anything like the usual tedious time spent on improving my appearance; it was more like a coffee klatch! So, for once, I admit that this time, contrary to the title of my site, it really was about me! Because the people at Style Bar made it so.

Having read this I thought it was really enlightening. I appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this content together. I once again find myself personally spending a lot of time both reading and leaving comments. But so what, it was still worth it!
